Dotty Cowl - A fascinating adventure in reversible crochet!
Instructor: Jody Ouradnik
Dates: 3 Saturdays: March 7, 21, & 28; 12:30-2:30 pm Note: There is an extra week between the 1st and 2nd class sessions.
Yes, it is really crochet. Everyone who has seen this cowl has loved it! Not only is it beautiful, but the comfortable drape and reversible design will certainly make it one of your most go-to accessories. And ... IT IS MUCH EASIER TO MAKE THAN IT LOOKS!
The cowl is worked in the round, built entirely with chain and double-crochet stitches. You'll learn a 4-round repeat that is easy to memorize, creating reversible layers of the contrasting yarns.
Skills to be taught in this class include:
Setting up a crochet chain for work in-the-round
Following a charted pattern (also written out instructions)
Creating "V-stitches" out of chains & double-crochet stitches
Understanding the reversible stitch construction
Identifying & tracking where you are in the pattern round repeats
Skill Level: Easy / Advanced Beginner. To be successful in this class, you must know how to make chain and single-crochet stitches. Experience with double-crochet is helpful, but we will review this stitch in class.
Supplies to bring to class: (registered students receive 10% off class supply purchases, excluding patterns)
Yarns: Two highly contrasting colorways of sock weight yarn (Approximately 400 yards of each color). The store sample shown in the pictures was made with Malabrigo sock in the Fortaleza and Sand Bank colorways. For best effect, choose a variegated yarn for one and a high-contrast solid for the other.
Hook: Size E/4 (3.5 mm)
Notions: Please bring at least 2 locking stitch markers that are different colors. You will also need a yarn/tapestry needle to weave in your ends when finished.
