Thinking about making a sweater, but not ready to do it on your own? Enroll in Northfield Yarn's Sweater Academy, and Cynthia will become your personal Sweater Coach!
In one group and one individual session, Cynthia will coach you through the critical decisions made at the outset of a sweater project (such as choosing yarn, pattern, and size), and go through the pattern with you to be sure you won't get stuck along the way. You will also have access to help at Northfield Yarn's drop-in clinic. This is how it works:
First you attend a 60-minute Launch Session. This group session covers key topics, such as pattern selection, how to make a gauge swatch, and sizing. You may choose to attend the group Launch Session on Saturday, Feb. 1st from 1:30-2:30pm, OR on Wednesday, Feb. 5th from 1-2pm. After registering for the Sweater Academy package, you will be contacted to find out which session you plan to attend.
Then you have an individual consultation. This is your chance to meet with Cynthia to discuss your individual choices, talk through the pattern you've chosen, and go over any questions you may have. You will make your appointment for your individual consultation at the end of the Launch Session.
Then you can use our punch-card clinic for help as you need it. There is no need to keep up with a class as you make your sweater. You will have access to our punch-card clinic for a full year from the date of your individual consultation.
Plus, take advantage of the following additional benefits:
Online community support. You will have access to a special Sweater Academy group on Ravelry, where you can pose questions, post progress reports, and cheer each other on.
10% off yarn purchased for your sweater. (To best serve you, we do require that you purchase your sweater yarn here at the shop to participate in Sweater Academy. These are the yarns that we know best.)
A celebration of your accomplishment. We will schedule an event toward the end of the year and invite all Sweater Academy participants to share their finished sweaters and receive a small gift in honor of their accomplishment.
Registration: There are a limited number of seats available in each Sweater Academy session, and registration for the Winter 2020 session ends on January 31st. (Keep in mind that the session is named for when it starts, not when it ends. You will have an entire year to use your sweater clinic visits.)
Skill Level: Adventurous advanced beginner & up. To be successful at making a sweater, you should be comfortable knitting, purling, working a few basic increases and decreases, and recognizing mistakes in your work.
