Virus Shawl Crochet-a-Long w/Jody - April 11 to May 30

Regular price $0.00 $0.00 Sale

The Virus Shawl designed by Julia Marquardt has been available for FREE on Ravelry for several years, but what an ideal project to work on while you are sheltering in place during the COVID-19 pandemic!

The designer provides links to a crochet chart for the shawl and 5 YouTube videos about making it, so there are online resources already available. But, if you've never worked with a crochet chart before, or if you'd like to be working on your shawl with a number of other folks in our online Zoom** Classroom, be sure to register for this CAL so you will receive links to the Zoom support sessions offered by Jody at Northfield Yarn. Support will be available on Friday mornings from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, during our regular Online Open Stitch sessions.

To receive information about how to join the online support sessions, please register for the Virus Shawl:

  1. Add the event to your shopping cart.
  2. Complete the checkout procedure all the way through payment confirmation (even though it is free) so that we have your contact info.
  3. Watch your email for a message with information about how to join the Zoom support sessions.

NOTE: The shop remains closed during MN Stay@Home, but we are able to ship orders made in the Online Shop or by phone (Mon, Wed, or Fri between 10 am - 2 pm).  Personal non-contact delivery is available in the Northfield, Dundas, and Faribault areas.

Supplies needed to make the Virus Shawl:

  • Pattern: Download and print a JPG image of the Virus Shawl chart . You will find more information on the Ravelry page for The Virus Shawl
  • Yarn: 750-1000 yards of fingering-weight yarn. Jody is using 2 balls of Lang Jawoll Dégradé Magic (Color # 118) for her shawl.
  • Hook: Size E/4 (3.5 mm)
  • Notions: Stitch markers, some way to keep track of where you are on a chart (highlighter pen, highlighter marker, software on your device)

** Note about the Zoom Classroom: Zoom is an online meeting space that is available to anyone for virtual meetings. You can use your computer, tablet, or smart phone to connect to a Zoom meeting. You may be asked to install a small app on your device in order to use Zoom. A strong network connection is recommended for smooth audio and video operation. Data use charges may apply, depending on the plan you have with your network provider.

Please download and review our Tips & Etiquette for Zoom Sessions to ensure that everyone has a great experience.
