Tapestry Crochet Notions Bag & Coin Purse - 3 Thursdays: March 28, April 4 & 11; 6:30-8:00 pm
Instructor: Jody Ouradnik
Date: 3 Thursdays: March 28, April 4, & 11; 6:30-8:00 pm
This 3-session class will build on the skills taught in the Tapestry Crochet: Intro class to create a small notions bag/coin purse, similar to the one in the image. The Intro class is recommended, but not required if you can work at the Skill Level described below. A pattern and chart for the small bag will be provided.
In this class, we will cover:
A brief review of the single-crochet stitch as used in Tapestry Crochet, as well as how to carry and change colors.
Techniques for successful crochet-in-the-round.
Reading a crochet colorwork chart.
How to modify the pattern to create a different size bag and/or use a different design chart.
How to attach the snap-closure purse frame.
Skill Level: Easy. To be successful in completing this project, you should be very comfortable chaining and creating single-crochet stitches. It is recommended that you know how to change between two or more colors that are being carried along within your stitches (a skill taught in the Tapestry Crochet: Intro class). Some experience crocheting in the round would also be helpful, but not required.
Supplies to bring to class: (registered students receive 10% off class supply purchases)
3 different colors of DK weight yarn (Rauma Strikkegarn is recommended). You will need approximately 50-60 yards of each color.
Size E (3.5 mm) crochet hook
Notions: 2-3 Stitch markers, scissors
3.35" semi-circular purse frame with snap closure. We will not sew on the frame until the last class. During the 2nd session, you will have an opportunity to purchase the purse frame, and suggestions for needle size and thread will be given.
